Code Of Behaviour - Parents

CODES OF BEHAVIOUR- PARENTS

Premier Sports League's Code of Behaviour promotes the essential elements of character building and ethics in sports as embodied in the concept of sportsmanship and six core principles: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and good citizenship. The highest potential of sports is achieved when competition reflects these principles.

Our PARENTS agree:

  1. They will not force their child to participate in sports. They will remember that children participate to enjoy the sport and that the game is for youth, not adults

  2. They will inform the coach of any physical disability or ailment that may affect the safety of their child or the safety of others

  3. They (and their guests) will be a positive role model for their child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, officials and spectators at every game, practice or sporting event

  4. They (and their guests) will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player, or parent such as interrupting games, or using profane language or gestures

  5. They will not encourage any behaviours or practices that would endanger that would endanger the well being of the athletes

  6. They will teach their child to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility, harassment, bullying or violence

  7. They will demand that their child treat other players, coaches, officials and spectators with respect regardless of race, religion, colour, sex or ability

  8. They will teach their child that giving one's best effort at that moment is more important than winning at all costs, so that their child will never feel defeated by the outcome of a game or their performance

  9. They will never ridicule or yell at their child or other participants for making a mistake or losing a competition

  10. They will emphasize skill development and practices and how it benefits their child over winning at all costs

  11. They will also support age appropriate games and competition at various age/stage of development

  12. They will promote the emotional, mental, social and physical well being of the athletes ahead of any personal desire they may have for their child to win

  13. They will respect the officials and their authority during games and will never question, discuss, or confront coaches while on the playing court and will take time to speak with coaches at a mutually agreed time and place

  14. They will demand a sports environment for their child that is safe, fair, respectful and inclusive and they will encourage their child to embrace this environment during sports events

  15. They will refrain from coaching their child or other players during games and practices, unless they are one of the official coaches of the team.
